Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler ( [1] – 31 December [2]) was an Orthodox rabbi, Talmudic scholar, and Jewish philosopher of the 20th century. He is best known for being the mashgiach ruchani ("spiritual counselor") of the Ponevezh yeshiva in Israel and through collections of his writings published posthumously by his pupils.Rabbi Dessler employs the spatial Rabbi Dessler’s life encompassed the traumatic destruction of the Eastern European Torah world, and the efforts to rebuild Torah in new locations; as product – and guardian – of the very best that pre-War Jewry possessed, he was able to transmit it to the new centers of Torah.
